Was at the hospital yesterday and at the same time met with Dr Ch and it wasn’t good news. That dang lymph node up in my neck tested positive for the same cancer down in my bladder. So bottom line it has spread just like they (and I) suspected.
So my cancer has fallen into the category of incurable when you hear that news it’s really difficult to see a silver lining but based on what they told me yesterday I’ll give it a try.
Here is the way I see this news and they confirmed my take on it.
- They are going to take out my bladder and the surrounding nodes to remove immediate cancer.
- The chemo I am getting may reduce the dang neck node (we have named it Theodore) so that it becomes less troublesome.
- They are going to monitor Theodore every three months
- If during these monitoring sessions they find something they don’t like they will deal with it then and there.
You may not call that a silver lining but Dr Ch confirmed that even though my cancer is stage 4 now I’m at the positive part of stage 4 meaning:
- It hasn’t spread to any other organs
- They can monitor Theodore closely
She (Dr Ch) told me that eventually, I will die from cancer, but not today, probably not this year maybe not even next year, but it will happen someday.
She also pointed out that people could get killed in the parking lot outside the hospital so we never really know when or how – me I know the how but not the when.
Off to the hospital now to start my second round of chemo, 6 hours today – the Love of my life Divina is coming with me.
Have a great day people – unless you’ve made other plans……
Peter and Theodore
